When I Think of Research...

During the past eight weeks of taking this course I have gained several insights into what it takes to be a quality researcher. I have also gained a deeper appreciation when it comes to creating research hypothesis questions.  First, I believe one of the main purpose of a researcher is to ask (Why is this research important?) The right research question can lead the researcher into conducting the correct steps in order to test the hypothesis.
Next, there were times I found creating the right hypothesis question to be difficult. I wrote hypothesis questions several times because I simply was not confident in my ability to create one. The challenge for me was creating a question I felt would be worthy for research, and I was also struggling with the notion of narrowing down my initial question in the time allotted. Once I made the decision to relax and approach the research question in a more practical way I then became comfortable with creating questions. There was a great lesson in gaining acceptance with in fact that this was going to be difficult for me.
In all my previous courses at Walden University I have gained courage in tackling early childhood issues, and most important I am growing professionally. This current course is no exception it has provided me with the same experience in understanding why I love early childhood education so much. Due to this course my perception about research has changed. I was blindly thinking that I really understood all the components to research, but I was proven wrong. The course materials I had to read and of course writing the weekly research chart really helped me to better understand the multiple steps into developing  the necessary skills to become a researcher. I will forever look at research the process with more respect than I did before.

  1. Hi Georgiana
You are right, this course help us to gain many insights on how to conduct a research and how to be good researchers who can work effectively to serve our children in early childhood field. I also agree with you that creating hypothesis question was a challenge, but I think with the experience that we gleaned during this course, we overcame this issue, and we became more confident in achieving all the steps of a good research. I wish you all the best in your journey, and good luck.
