The
issue impacting my choice into advocacy work involves making sure that children
living in poverty has access to quality preschool programs. I have seen children
in daycare centers who are not receiving adequate care. Some child care workers
are not properly trained; therefore they are not viewed as professionals. To
put it simply, they are viewed as baby sitters. I have
been a special education and Preschool through 3 grade teacher for several years, therefore;
I feel my professional experience can contribute to being an advocate for early
childhood children and families. I personally feel that people are the best resource
when trying to help others. It is always a wonderful experience when an
individual with knowledge in their perspective field can share ideas that will
help to improve the system of education. Growing into a skilled professional comes with
practice and patience. In order to become an effective advocate I must reach out to members
in my community and learn from them.
Georgiana,
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is important to provide access to early childhood education for children living in poverty. As a result, I will work to assist families in poverty. I also find it is important to work with other agencies and political leaders to help create programs that address issues. I would use my local resources to help children in my area. However, I would need state and national help for larger programs.
What a great issue to tackle. I too have seen the issues facing these children. So many times they seem forgotten or neglected. There is not enough training and education to help improve the programs available. Building a strong community to help battle these issues is a great way to start!

Communities that are most vulnerable need organizations to reach out to them. Resources are not always attainable and families that abuse drugs and alcohol also neglect their children. Children are left at home alone and hungry we need to make a stand for these kids and reach out to them and their families and make access easier.
